Good morning...

In response to this question, I can only say h*ll yes.
I've been playing with Audis since 1996, all 5cyl 10v versions.
Currently my roommate has a CGT and I have a 5ktq. The turbo would IMHO wak=
e up the Coupe and make it "as fast as it looks"- which is why on Tom's car=
, we are piecing together the items necessary to convert it to MC turbo pow=
er.

It seems to me your question comes not from the value of the proposed swap,=
but "should I modify this car?"

The 87.5 is indeed the rarest CGT. Whether or not this adds considerable va=
lue is a matter of conjecture. But the ur-Q, in the US, is much rarer than =
any Coupe- and enthusiasts still modify them to extremes. Tasteful, reversi=
ble, factory-style upgrades, IME, do nothing to reduce the value of an '80s=
Audi. And the turbo swap you're proposing looks to fall into that category=
. Taken as trade-ins, these cars are only worth a few hundred dollars anywa=
y=2E The people who would pay more (because they appreciate the marque) wou=
ld likely enjoy the extra punch of the turbo so long as it is not a hack jo=
b=2E Actually, the only non-reversible part of this swap I can think of is =
the relocation of the battery tray to the trunk! If you wanted to put it ba=
ck to stock, I think you could just weld it back in place if necessary. Sin=
ce this mod not only makes room for the WG, but improves weight dist/handli=
ng, though, why would you?

I, of course, am biased. I think *every* engine would be improved by turboc=
harging- and the factory Audi setup is pretty bulletproof, durability wise.

Just my 2c,
Rob
