successfully exchanged my driving lights

I went down to 3A racing accessories, in Corona (Queens) NY. That's
American Automotive Accessories, I think. Anyway, I spoke to Andy,
the receiving manager on the phone yesterday and he insisted that I
bring a proof of purchase so he can evaluate the time frame I
actually had the lights on. Well, I couldn't download the info from
my sept credit card statement, so I just went down with the lights
and the box. He still insisted on the receipt because they simply
don't deal with the public. Anyhow, I persisted and pointed to his
accounts office, right next to us and asked him to pull up the Pep
Boys account to find out the earliest possible date they had them or
I could go to Pep Boys corp. and explain the situation I'm having
with a junky pair of lights I bought from them and I need their sales
record. Having been inside the buying side of businesses, I've seen
that that's enough to have a vendor dropped by a retail chain.
Anyway, he was combative, I explained to him that I'm not a stupid
consumer. The box, nor the package insert had anything stating a
warranty (he told me thirty days on the phone). I told him that I'm
covered by the consumer protection laws. Their merchandise does not
state "as is", or "no warrantees expressed or implied". he got really
ticked off and before I could tell him that this should be something
that troubles him enough to go to the manufacturer and correct the
production problem. He didn't care, gave me new lights and told me to
not come back.

Despite the low cost, I would not recommend using 3A lights. they are
made by an outside asian manufacturer and the reason why I bought
these lights was because they were the same lights I saw branded by
other companies (Hella being one), but for dirt cheap. $20, I think.
The only thing I saw different was there was no plastic covering the
back. The lens is glass bonded to and aluminum housing. My problem
was that the light allowed water inside, then the reflector
blackened, then one of the lenses just came off while the car was
parked. As far as performance goes, it's so-so. Blazer makes the xt
860 for around the same price with clear lenses. I have seen two side
by side and one appears to be a driving lens, while the other a fog,
but they are packaged the same. The reflectors seem to be the same as
these, and many other lights. My lights have that brown tinted glass
with the ion coating. I think the Blazers might be more my taste,
with the clear lenses.
