I blew a heater core and decided to tackle the job myself. It was one of the
first times a replacement part has cost less than $300. Thank god! Anyway I
got the box in and out and even tested to see whether the blower and heat
worked. They did! Then I realized I had a missing vacuum line connection.
The white plastic line originates from the heater coolant valve on the
firewall and it connects to something on the air-conditioner and then
continues to the inside of the car right above the bowden cable from the
programmer.
I can't find what the hell it connects to. At this point I have taken the
whole box out again and can't see anything new. I have the factory manual and
I ran into something that seems a little fishy. First of all, the 1988 a/c
section doesn't list the colors for the vaccuum lines, only the 1984-5 has
them. Next I see that the vaccuum motors have only three connections going to
them. My vaccuum motors have four lines going to them. Is the red line going
to this my missing connection? Next it seems like the red black and white are
supposed to tee off. Mine currently doesnt do this. At this point I don't
see where the black line leads to, it seems to dissappear somewhere around the
key ignition.
Does anyone know what would happen if I did nothing and left the white line
loose? I want to put the car back together quick but am stumped here.
Please, please, please
