4kq running cold- Part 2

About a month ago I posted that I finally figured out why my 4kq temp gauge
would read too low on the highway. I ended up determining that it was not a
problem with the cooling system or the sensor/gauge combo. It turned out to
be the air blowing through the grill, which was cooling down the sensor and
giving an artificially cold reading. The original shrouding is long gone on
my car.
After creating a simple sheet metal shroud for the upper coolant port, I've
discovered my fuel mileage has also increased substantially! I was getting
22-24mpg on the highway. My last couple of tanks have both been 26mpg.
Apparently I've been running too rich for quite a while.
