Listers, here's a plea for some really simple help.
I finally got a replacement back glass for my CGT! Some might remember tha=
t the original caught a baseball last July and I have been on a scavenger h=
unt ever since. Chris at Force 5 Auto helped me out by finding one without=
a wiper mount and shipping from NH to OH.
Its getting a thorough cleaning now, but I'm wondering what would be the be=
st thing to use to clean off the mineral deposits left when rain water that=
collected at the rubber seal, evaporated. Some standard bathroom cleaners=
like Lime-Away and X-14 come to mind, but this is glass and not a toilet b=
owl. Anyone have any good glass cleaning advice?
Before the "unfortunate incident" as my kids now call it, I never imagined =
how rare the wiperless variety was. I was 0 for 6 before I contacted Chris=
. One yard was particularly memorable. First of all, it was located next =
to Hitler Road. For crying out loud, what kind of folks would name a stree=
t after...? I decide that I didn't want to know. Then the guy that ran th=
e place had a very different way of viewing things. When I asked him on th=
e phone about the wiper, he said "No, there's no wiper." So. I grab my dad=
's Suburban and drive two hours. But when the glass was brought out, I imm=
ediately spotted the plastic mount and the tell-tale hole. "Hey!" I said, =
"when I talked to you on the phone you said that it didn't have a wiper!" =
He leaned over the counter and spoke like he was letting me in on a secret.=
It doesn't have a wiper...but it did at one time."
TIA
