re. factory instrumentation accuracy & mpg

Mine is the same and has been with all 4 of my Audi 5k models I have
owned. I have never seen a better mileage than 26 mpg. In the city I
typically get around 18 mpg, and on my long trips, doing 80 MPH, I get
24 mpg. This is also calculated from the driven distance and filled up
amount of gas, and not by the trip computer.
