Hi,

I'm a little late to this thread but have you pulled
the codes and seen if any errors are reported or the
CIS infrastructure is OK ?

If idle is not changing with removing the dipstick
there is a vacuum leak somewhere.

Fix your radiator/cooling before moving on. Its
difficult to diagnose these problems if you can only
run the motor a few minutes.
