There are O-rings under the caps. The seal kit has all O-rings and more to
re-seal these pumps. The standard method to remove the caps is with a hand
impact driver and drag link socket. Drag link is a large screwdriver blade.
Sears Craftsman sells one that's slightly too big, so just file the corners
off of it. Be sure to lube new O-rings with hydraulic fluid and tighten the
caps to correct torque specs as per Bentley. Once the caps start to leak
there's no use in trying to stop the leak by torquing the caps further. This
is more likely to strip threads or tear the O-ring. Actually, Audi has a
detailed TSB on re-sealing the pumps ... handy if you can find a copy
TSB# 488902 NOV 89 Central Hydraulic Pump - Resealing

So, that how you fix a pump leaking at the seams. What if the pump is leaking
from the "cross headed" plugs on the top of the pump?? This is where mine
leaks. It must have been on the car a long time though, because the plug that
now leaks has been slightly seeping/bubbling for 4 years.
