Hydraulic pump repair-questions

It's not even particularly difficult. If you are not replacing the
seal around the axle or the X-caps, you don't even need any special
tools.

Once you have split the pump in two, I strongly recommended taking out
the inner axle bearing holder and replace the O-ring inside there as
well. That's where mine leaked the most, and that ring is not part of
the rebuild kit. Get standard O-rings from the hardware store. Much
cheaper. I know someone posted the O-ring sizes here once, but I seem
to have deleted the post. It should be in the archives.

Keep it very clean and fill the pump before you start.
