the "normal" way to do it seems to be to undo and pull the right side of
the dashboard back a bit.  The suggestions to dismantle it in place
sound good, too.

I just took a quick look at the "chirper" I removed while doing my
stereo/interior, and yes, there are two screws that appear to hold it
together.

I got my new one from Chris at Force Five for $95.
