I have experimented with putting a section of loose-fitting bicycle
inner tube over the rod when I work on it, and then slathering them with
anti-seize after the car is aligned and sliding the tube over the
threaded area, and zip tying it in place.

At my last alignment, the mechanic did not complain about the rear rods
which I did like that early last year.

Couldn't hurt, at least!

step one - get it clean and workable

step two - inundate it with something lasting that blocks moisture

step three - cover it with something that will hold in the goo and keep
out sand, salt, chipmunks, etc.

Remember to move the tube aside and wipe off the excess goo before
handing it over for an alignment, though.
