Soft brake pedal

Have a shop perform a brake bleeding procedure to purge the brake
lines of air.  If your car hasn't had a brake fluid flush and replacement
in the past couple of years, this is a good time to do it.  Use only
good DOT-4 fluid.

If that doesn't cure the problem, then I suspect a failing brake
master cylinder.
