how AC clutch cycles?

Thanks.  I thought about it when disassembled thermostat.  That screw presses against bi-metalic contact.
But in my case it does not work cause the problem is the clutch is not cycling.  More precisely, it cycles sometimes and somethimes not.
When it cycled Inoticed  that themperature at vents is still 50F.
