I'd rather think of cooling the oil sufficiently to become more like grease
I could then pump in with a grease gun.  Trying to fit little
cubes/balls/cylinders of FROZEN oil through the drain plug hole would be
too slow a process to keep the stuff frozen,  I'd think.

Of course, you have to PLAN for this process by knowing in advance how much
oil you need in the diffy so you can cool/freeze just the right amount.
