overheating? 89 80 and intake boot

I replaced the air filter, clearly hasn't been changed in years. I patched
up the intake boot as best I could (I used about 10 times as much tape as
was on there before, and pulled as tight as I could. The car started up
immediately when I restarted it, and the pronounced bucking previously
present was absent. I can still hear a slight leak where the ISV comes
in. I think I definitely going to need a new intake boot, how much do
these run new (anyone, anyone?)

I put some more coolant/water mix in the reserve tank, and squished all the
hoses to make sure it was getting everywhere. When warmed up, the temp
gauge read slightly than before, but the blinking coolant light was gone.
