1994 90S: EGR valve, temp sensor R&R advice

Folks,

I cannot seem to find the EGR temp sensor in my 1994 Audi 90 (AAH engine
with Californian emissions package). Bentley claims the sensor should be
on/near the EGR valve or in the lower part of the intake manifold,
underneath the throttle body. I've searched both places without finding it.
Does anyone know where it's located?

Have anyone replaced the EGR valve on one of these cars before? I'd like a
little advice here. Is there an easy way to get the valve out? Do I need a
crows foot for the lower union (where the valve connects with the tube from
the exhaust) or will the valve just pull out of there?
