It was ANOTHER great NEQ event. The only damage that I saw was in the FIRST
run session of the first day... an instructor on cold tires oversteered
exiting the off camber left, hitting the back corner into the styrofoam wall. Did
some damage to the bumper and rear quarter panel (minor, light housing still
perfect). The car ran every session without any problems.

It was very hot, everyone got a little sunburned, no rain, mostly sunny
skies.

Bob Connell got his new Corvette Z06, so Chuck Price in his tricked out 1996
993 Porsche, Bob, and myself (in my Z06) were playing tag most of the weekend.
We were definately down into the 2:17-2:20 (!!) range, so says a student who
decided to time us. Great fun. The track got noticeably greasy the
afternoon of the second day due to the heat (blacktop measured 120 degrees F, reported
by Mike Collier), so the last session Chuck and I swapped cars and we ran at
7-8 tenths. Gotta love Porsche 911s. As long as you're smooth and keep the
back end planted, they're so rewarding. Not nearly as easy to drive as a well
prepared S4, but for me driving a 911 is just like "going home." It was a
real treat to drive Chuck's caged 911 on Hoosiers as I hadn't driven a 993 in
over 2 years.

Quite a few TTs, the usual S4 suspects, and a LOT of older Audis (200s, V8,
80s, 90s, and 4000s!). Jacqui Lawton's trick 4000 did break her power steering
belt (AGAIN, last time was 3 weeks ago at Lime Rock). Well, this time it got
caught in the timing belt and apparently bent valves. =(

Bonnie Royal's 20V 90q had some brake problems... yet again Paul's 302,000
mile 20V 90q ran perfectly. The night before Paul did a modification to his car
with window chalk.... a track map (sorta) along the entire perimeter of his
car (hood had the boot, one side was front straight, one side was back
straight... it was hilarious!). I'm sure Brett got pictures.

Adri wanted to know where you were Scott!! I hope you make the August event.
I'll have Stoptech's installed on the Z06 by then. Being a dealer, I should
have no excuse NOT to put them on now that the new tow vehicle is in the
"stable."

I still haven't fixed the bumper (from WDS) or the failed wheel rear wheel
bearing (crappy Audi bearings) on my S4!

Hope to see you soon,
Mark Rosenkrantz
