Yes, I'll second the "Mike Gough Tuning Stye", Mike has done a great job, not only with little $$ but also age and life experience, I'm always impressed with how much tuning (not just bolting on, etc) that Mike has done before the tender age of 20 ;) Nothing wrong with doing it on a severe budget long as the results are the same.
As much as power and performance are a goal of my project, so is reliability, if you're tuning these cars and you can never get'em to run right, then you're likely going about it all wrong. My goal is to build a car that I can drive to the track and back and not have to tear down and rebuild all the time. If done properly, and EFI'd car will be even more reliable than a stock car.
Heck, I looked into an engine compartment of a Neon the other day and though, "what hack built these wiring harnesses and ran this hose plumbing", hoses and wires were rubbing on each other, the whole engine compartment was a mess. At least do it better than a Neon, and try to maintain the quality and engineering of the Factory Audi systems, it doesn't take a lot of time or money, just patience and attention to detail.
