Oil Pan Removal Procedure

I supported the 4 cylinder engine from above and loosened the subframe bolts. I removed all the oil pan bolts except the rear two which appear to be recessed into the bell housing. I had hoped that they were missing but unfortunately I can't seem to pull the oil pan free. Any suggestions short of pulling the engine?
Thanks!

If you have a four cylinder engine, then yes, you need to loosen the engine mounts and support the engine from above. The 5 cylinder cars don't need this because the engine doesn't mount to the subframe.

I remember reading that by loosening the front subframe bolts and removing the rear subframe bolts the rear oil pan bolts can be reached. What about the engine mounts? Should the engine be supported from above? I wouldn't want to have to do an engine bench press.
