The sensor is a single pin type at the rear of the intake manifold by
the ISV. Remove the connector and touch it to the manifold. The fan
should start.

Mike,
  SImply hotwire the fan to the battery, it should kick it.  It is like
the 4000, then you can go to the sensor under the rad, and jump that
wire to, should cause it to kick.  Alternatively, you can jump the relay
in the fuse box too.  I am assuming that the 5000 is similiar to the
4000 setup, if not, ignore what I post here.
