There was a great write up about all those cars, acura
(rsx), bmw (325), mazda (protege), lexus (IS300) and
the civic (the civic). There is a 2.8L max
displacement rule. The cars must be based on
production models, and since the BMW 2.5L six makes
184 hp, and the mazda protege 2.0L four makes 130hp,
the rules are such that they allow the mazda engine to
have many more mods than the BMW. The lexus had to
de-stroke their 3.0L six to compete. That article was
in either car & driver, automobile or road & track.
They compared them all head-to-head and explained the
race series.
