A6 bumper recall campaign LQ

I think the recall is only for the 98+ MY A6.
As I recall...
Actually the fix doesn't affect the bumper, but the plastic engine cover
directly behind the bumper. Originally this engine cover mounted slightly
higher than the bottom lip of the bumper cover. So, once the driver parked
over some obstacle that contacted the bumper, backing up removed all or part
of the bumper cover.
The recall kit changes the mounting for the front edge of the plastic engine
cover so that it is flush with the bumper cover. So, small errors might not
remove the bumper cover.
That's the way it looks to me on my car anyway.
Supposedly makes changing the oil a little tougher, due to the fasteners on
the front edge of the cover, and no easy way to reattach the silly thing.
