Help! The dying ignition switch has finally died 100%. I have the "proper" parts on order but need to do something to get mobile in the mean time. I found a spare starter button from my boat. My intention is to wire it up to the "start" position on the switch. The all I'll have to do is turn the key to run and press the button. Right? This is a switch that is "open" until pressed, and goes back to open when you let go. Anybody know what color the correct wires are to wire this in?

I would like to leave this push button permanently tapped into the ignition and have it permanenly mounted somewhere on the lower dash for jsut such occasions since these ignition switches seem to be problematic. Is it possible to have both the original keyed ignition swittch and my hidden push button installed & working at the same time? At least then when the switch dies the next time, I won't be stranded. Any BTDTs and/or pics would be GREATLY appriciated. The car is at my local mechanics now (he says "no problem, I'm sure I can figure it out), but I want to provide some information for him if possible.

TIA!
