89 200q normal oil pressure? Then Why the Warning light?

The two wire sensor failed on one of my cars causing the oil idiot light to
come on.  This was on an 89 100 with oil pressure gauge that reassured me
the pressure was normal.  Replacing the two wire sender cured my problem.
