Bicycle roof rack options

I am using the X-port system on my 200Q sedan. No problems. Thule
would also work fine. X-port and Thule accessories are interchangable,
except the Thule does have a nicer fork mount system, at a notably higher
cost. X-port JUST came out with a locking skewer option for their fork
mount, which works well. I'd remove it from the rack if there aren't any
bikes on the rack though, as once the skewer is open/loose, it IS
steal-able.
The wheel clamps are also steal-able, but they are on ALL of the racks. I

got mine with locking feet, and it was about $80 less than a comparable
Thule, which means about the same savings vs. Yakima. ALL are good
racks. BTW, the fit kits to change cars for the X-port system just
involve
clips, which are about $25/set. As I recall, Thule kits are much more,
don't
recall Yakima.

I have two Type 44's (sedans) and would like to get a roof rack to hold
two bikes. I'm hoping to get some opinions from owners. I'd been looking
at the Yakima, Thule, and the Performance XPORT.

Any recommendations? Are there any that use the audi roof rails? Any
used ones for sale? I didn't find anything in the archives or on the
marketplace.

Dan, I use Yakima towers on my 95.5 S6 Avant rails and they work just
fine.
You can use any part of the Yakima system with that set-up.
