Replacing 4KQ Subframe bushings.... ARG!

Hey there,
I'm replacing the subframe bushings on my 85 4KQ and while getting them out
was no problem, I've already ruined one new bushing trying to get it in.
I do have a press and although I lubed the bushing with greaseless
lubricant, I still managed to rip off the "lip" of the bushing while trying
to press it in.
So, what's the trick here? Perhaps a silicon lubricant or just good old
bearing grease? I thought about freezing the bushings but I figured that
would only make them more prone to rip.
Any insight is greatly appreciated!!
TIA,
