The NG is a 10v motor, but I'm almost positive all the 20v's are the same
as well. Audi used common cranks in almost all of their engines, as well
as common transmissions across many different 10v and 20v models, so all
the marks have to line up across all the engines. Makes things easy to
swap around that way cause you don't have to worry about a bunch of
different timing marks

Well then you know it's at least on there correctly, but just be forwarned
that visual inspections really don't mean too much in the timing belt
world. Mileage and age are both the factors that determine the change
time.

Hmm, off the top of my head all that is needed for spark (or at least a
spark signal to the coil) is the hall sendor on the dizzy (make sure you
are using the correct single window distributor), and the two flywheel
sendors: TDC, and engine speed)
waaaaiiiiidddaaamminnnut.... You said you are using the NG flywheel???
Was the flywheel the same one that was in that car when it was running?
If it wasn't did you put a timing pin in the flywheel for the ecu sensor??
The NG CIS-E3 system doesn't use the same timing system as the MAC series
ECU's, the CIS-E3 system uses only a 5 window hall sensor to determine the
timing points. So if you use an NG flywheel then you MUST put a pin in the
flywheel at the correct pickup point for the MC/KH ECU.
There was a fellow on my site that submited the correct coordinates to
place a pin in a non-pinned flywheel:

I really hope you have a pin in there, cause if not you have to seperate
engine and tranny again.... :(

I know how you feel, trust me. Sometimes it's best to take a couple days
off, go to the movies, relax, whatever. Then jump back in with a clear
head and a plan.
Take care.
