R_Purple experiences with turbo?

Hello all...

I'm looking to go with synthetic oil in my MC-1 turbo engine and wondered if
anyone had any experience with Royal_Purple motor oils?

One of my friends / fellow SCCA club racers is a distributor for RP products
and would be able to get me a case at a reasonable price to try it.
Admittedly, he might be biased, but he claims RP to be superior to Mobil 1
synthetics.  His family has raced on the national level for some years and
he claims that the engine builders they deal with swear by RP as well...

I'm interested most in preserving my engine and keeping the turbo free from
excessive wear resulting from its high-heat / stress environment.  He claims
that RP can last around 6k miles between changes, although a filter change
halfway through might be good practice as well...

By looking at the archives, I realize the synth / mineral oil topic is a
thread burner, but any experience, thoughts or comments on these products?
