Trunk lock won't open '90 80

My '88 80Q had a ski sack, which can be removed, then I stuck a Phillips head
point into the end of an old broom handle and was able to remove the cover
over the lock. I then attached a hook to the end of the broom and pulled on the
rod going from the  lock to the key....pop  it opened. It was a PITA but
worked, without ski sack and thru the speaker holes would be a very big PITA.
