4KQ Headlight switch

This is a question for all the owners of the last generation 4KQ's. My
86 has developed a nasty habit of eating headlight switches, it seems
that the marker/parking lamp hot wire is overheating and melting the
socket and switch making the lights flicker or not come on at all.
Question is, why/how is this happening and how do I fix it? I have
tested volts and amps on it, v=13.5ish a=7.5ish. Is this in normal
range? I have replaced both the switch and socket/harness twice and hope
to do it only one more time.
TIA
