No more (old) Beetles

I have a soft spot for the air-cooled Beetle. I had a
'65 in my college years. Bought it for $125 without
an engine. Put in an engine from my brother-in-law's
spare parts car. I drove it for 2 years. The car was a
light green car with black fenders. All the fenders
were dented, which made merging in Boston traffic
so easy. :-)   I drove it hard. I once rolled it over onto
it's roof. I pushed it back onto 4 wheels, pulled the
fenders off the wheels, replaced the spilled oil, and
it was good to go.  Until I rolled it over again. That
2nd time killed it.

A sad day indeed.
