You're absolutely right. There's a spare source somewhere in case the
battery gets knocked out by the impact of an accident. You need to
disconnect some red connector in the driver's side well somewhere... It's
all in the Bentley.

I'm glad to hear that you didn't loose any fingers in the removing process...
