NAC domain name registrations

Please reply off-list to this as there is NO Audi content . . . (almost)


I need to renew some existing domain names - last time out was through the
place in VA at $70 for two years (retail).

I'm seeing ads in Wired magazine (which has a multi-page Audi ad for the
A8L in this issue BTW - there's the Audi content!), and there are places
offering domain name registrations for as little as $6 a year, allegedly
every bit as good and every bit as valid and legal as the high price spread.

I've also heard some horror stories - they are really subdomains, you don't
own it, they do, etc., and I figured I ask someone (or someones) who don't
have anything to sell me.
