roof rack options for 80/90 Audi

I have a Thule rack, since my car has roof rails for which Thule makes
a fit kit and Yakima does not.  That was a mistake!

Go to REI or so and check out the attachments for Thule and Yakima.
The bicycle carriers in particular bear examination: the Thule one has
a mostly-plastic head, very flimsy, and last I checked it wouldn't
even accomodate the lock core that it was designed to work with, on
account of poor tolerances in the moulding process.  Yakima's bike
carrier is very solid, with lots of stainless parts, and machined
aluminum...  extremely solid-feeling.  just compare for yourself.

Thule makes fit kits for more European cars (go figure), but if you
can make a Yakima fit, I would recommend that route.
