Listers, please any advice would be useful...
The ignitions switch on my 200 has failed. Not a killer problem, though
somewhat difficult to replace. The instrument cluster must be removed as
well as the lower kick panel etc. Switch was removed and had broken about
the plastic ring that is inserted into the end of the lock cylinder.
The big problelm is that the end of the metal probe of the lock cylinder
assembly was broken off as well. This fits into the switch, and turns it as
the key is truned. I do not know how to remove the lock cylinder with out
tearing the whole steering column from the dash, a big job, that seems bound
to cause me to damage other stuff in the process.
Hey, I must be missing something here. This is surely a common problem in
older Audi's, and there hopfully is a better way. Please any help here from
the unfortunates that have gone before me would be appreciated by those who
must now and in the future follow your footsteps.
Regards,
Phil Haag
