Early A8s?

I need to get a big luxo-highway cruiser in the next few months. It needs to be comfy (luxurious) and have a big trunk and good performance. One of the cars I love is the early A8s (1996-1998). It seams these incredible machines don't hold value very well which is a bonus for those looking for them used. I see 1997/1998 A8s selling for $15-20k all the time with 50-100k miles. Anyway, please hammer me with the pros and cons of the early A8s. What are the typical problem areas? Are they at least somewhat reliable? This car would be my & my wifes weekend and vacation (road trip) car. It would sit all week long, only getting driven on weekend and vacations. So, what are your thoughts? is the early A8 the "right" car for me?
