Bushing in the crank removal

I had this same problem some time back. Grease didn't work for me and I
couldn't find a puller small and cheap enough to do the trick (around
$150 locally!). Vicegrips didn't help me either.
I did post my little effort on this list, but here it is again. This was
for a MC auto crank.
You will need:
1. M16 tap and tap-handle
2. a long M16 bolt (I used one 8" [20cm] long, with a long shank)
The hole in the middle of the bushing was around 14-15mm in diameter, so
I used a M16 bolt. Obviously, pick a size that works with the size of
the hole.
The bolt cost around $2-$3 at a engineering supply shop. I borrowed a
big tap set with the M16 tap and huge handle from a engineering shop.
That alone probably saved me $50. :P
Anyway, procedure is simple.
Use the tap bit and handle to thread the hole in the bushing, then
remove and clean the fresh threads. Separate tap bit and handle and now
slide the big bolt through the handle opening. Screw the bolt into the
bushing and then use the tap handle as a sliding hammer against the
bottom of the bolt's head.
Worked a treat. :)
The bushing came right out.
