I'll have to ask Ken what he's talking about next time I talk to him, but as
has been previously mentioned, if anyone's got the "secret", we'd all sure
like to know, becuase that system has been pushed and pushed for years. Hell,
I've thrown more fuel at it thinking it was a fuel problem, but when the air
wasn't there I knew it was time to move on.
Bottom line, the CIS is a nice system for that low 200hp range, but once you
get past it, its SUCH a big world of tuning potential out there. What I'm
able to do with my 034 system, in seconds with mere key strokes, even Motronic
guys can't do, the CIS just isn't that tuneable, if it is no ones been able to
push it very far, lets see some dyno #'s.
Just now I got back from creating a race map. I threw in a few gallons of
100 octane race gas to create a "race gas map", found an open stretch up-hill
280, about 5 min and 10 keystrokes later I had pushed my ignition advance to
pinging and brought it back to safe levels and was enjoying the more aggressive
timing higher octane fuel affords. Next time I'm at the track I fill up with a
few gallons of 100oct, plug in the laptop, load up the map and drive onto the
track. No swapping ECU's, no burning chips, no playing with system pressures
and CO (not that it works anyway).
CIS will always limit you, lets say you could get 280hp out of it, so what,
how much time and money will you have to throw at it, and what about when you
get bored with that (yes, you will).
Ok, rant off, God bless CIS ;)
