Going to be moving battery box to the truck.. what gauge wire?

Should be fine.  Don't forget the alternator.
What would be nice is 4 ga to a buss block on the firewall, then 8 to
the fuse box, 8 to the alternator and 4 to the starter.
Nicer than running your fusebox and alt wires off the grimly starter
post location I think.

A die grinder (electric or pneumatic) with a cut off wheel on it should
work well.  just watch out for "unintended" cuts, and things on the
other side of the battery tray.
