The KG engine was the best of both worlds when compared to the WX and the MC
engines. The KG has the K26 oil and water cooled turbo, where the WX is oil
only. The KG has a mechanical cylinder head like the WX but with big valves,
where the MC is hydraulic. The KG has no catalytic convertor. My gray market 200
has (had) a port installed O2 sensor and fuel regulating contraption connected
in line with the fuel warm up regulator.

To answer your question, Yes, the KG would work out fine, you would install
it as you would a MC engine. To pass emissions, you would need some sort of O2
sensor and catalytic convertor to pass emissions in the US.

On the other hand, if you could get it to run clean enough, and install a
"mock"convertor body on a straight pipe, you could by pass the convertor. The
emission inspector only needs to visually see a convertor there.
