944 / V8 diff in CGT?

I stand corrected.

I forgot of this bearing. One side is the same but the other one isn't.

You're right regarding the heat treatment. It's a risk because the machined
differential WILL loose this heat treatment since it will be machined beyond
the depth of the treatment. However, it's a fairly calculate risk. This
differential will not be carrying the same load it does in a V8, but again
this is a non-scientific assumption.

One thing that I haven't done is going through the bearing manufacturers
catalogs in search of a correct or closest bearing. I know that SKF doesn't
have a perfect one, but there are other companies, and possibly one that
requires little machining not affecting the hardening.

Another option that I didn't investigate is: What would be necessary to adapt
the housing to the V8 bearing size? or Having one bearing that has the
internal diameter needed and an outside matched by machining the housing as
little as possible.

This is not a easy task, but I still believe it's doable if you have all the
tools and do the home work.

Since, I bought the rear clip for a good price, I'm willing to try, if the PG
solution doesn't work.
