All things considered, the very first post I read on this topic was the one
describing a "17mm Allen bolt"  That's the one on the outer CV joint.
You're not apt to find a triple square socket of any help there.  I've never
come across one that large, and I have doubts they exist.  The triple square
is popular in German cars, and often replaces the Allen head bolts formerly
used in many applications, especially in driveline apps.  Audi has used
Allen (socket head) bolts for outer CV joints since the mid 80s in some
applications, but we often see conventional bolt designs in those same
places.  Inner CV joints now use the triple square bolts in varying sizes,
but early applications were Allen head types.  HTH, John
