Here's what I would do (in my dreams):

Weld in the mounting for the underhood fusebox.  Install fusebox.

Slowly, over time and when needed, shift harnesses to it.  Some fine
day, finish the job and frame the 1948 VW fusebox the car came with and
hang it on the wall.

The later wiring is *so* superior, I can't imagine runnign a quirky car
like an UrQ with flaky lights, fuel pump, etc. for the long term.

Rust free UrQ with underhood fusebox done right: $5000.00 (nothing else
matters)
