Hello all...
Time to play detective... (to borrow the game from Monsieur Swann...)
Patient: 1981 Coupe GT (the ITB car)
Situation: I recently pulled the engine and put in a 4kq JT engine for
testing purposes and an upcoming track event. After wrestling with the
engine to get it on the input shaft, we adjusted angles with the hoist and
transmission and it slid home. I put all the fuel injection / wiring /
cooling system back together, started it up... seems to run fine.
I reattached the subframe, verified everything once more, dropped it down
for a test drive, put it in gear, let out the clutch and... NOTHING. WTH?
Clutch is indeed actuating and I can get all the gears... no pops, grinds or
other expensive noises. It seems like I'm shifting through the gears only
the car does not move under it's own power. It appears to be in neutral. A
peak under the car confirms that the shift linkage is fine...Clutch is
adjusted correctly as well.
Damn... I'm thinking I've got to pull the engine and redo the clutch or
something. Bummer.
After talking with a friend, I figured out what the problem was and fixed it
last night, but would anyone care to speculate / guess what the issue was?
It wasn't obvious to me, but it might be to some of you...
