Threw in the towel today

Temps were over 90 this afternoon in Ohio, and I looked all over the house
for my accordion-like folding sun screen....you know, that thing you can
spread across the inside of the windshield to keep the sun off the dash and
steering wheel. Been using the same one for years.

I raided the linen cupboard and absconded with two big white bath towels.
Spread one across the rear window shelf, and tucked the other along the
lower edge of the windshield, extending back to cover the dash and the
steering wheel.  Big bath towel.

Left the car in full sun for an hour, while I exercised in the park
(beneath 100 acres of cool green shade trees.)  Left the front windows
cracked about an inch, sunroof kicked up an inch.  It's a white car, and
when I came back to go home, it was reasonably cool inside. Cooler than
when I used the commercial folding thing last summer.

If I ever find the accordian-thing, I'll have to think twice about carrying
it around. It is awkward and takes up lots of space. And I can sit on the
towels if my black leather seats are hot.
