V8 Quattro water-pump R&R

time to stay current here ...

Water pump is on the timing belt path, so you should plan to do that as
well.  There is a list of special tools needed to do the job, many of them
are to establish crank/cam timing relationship.  I've done a couple now, it
isn't really all that difficult with the tools.  The big thing to beware of
is to check out the tensioning mechanism ... I had a TB with less than 10K
miles on it go ... and I've heard of others who have had similar problems
...
