hey all... so im still having lingering issues w/ the mc'd urq... if
anyone has ANY suggestion, please let me know... if you are on the
main list, please respond directly, since im not receiving messages
right now...
the isv system doesnt work... i THINK because the temp sensor is
bad...it measures way out of spec... and they are only 8 bucks at TPC
(the local dealer wants almost 50 bucks...)... but i dont think that
has anything to do w/ the power issue since it's never worked since
i've had the car...
it is pulling about 12-13" of vacuum at ~800 rpm idle speed... it
stalls when you pull the oil filler cap, and it REALLY stumbles when
ya pull the dipstick... so it really doesnt seem to have a vacuum
leak...
so, symptoms:
if i just let out the clutch, from idle till about 2200-2500 rpm,
there's NO power... as in a yugo could beat me... this is part
throttle, full throttle, matters not... then, about 2500rpm or so, it
suddenly turns on, and is ok for a bout 1500rpm...
the car SOMETIMES puts out full power (well, closer to full power),
but most of the time, it just feels 'off'... maybe about 40hp down or
so... there's just no real surge to the power when the turbo hits
boost, and it feels slow up to redline... the couple timeswhen it has
been ok to redline, the damn thing pulls amazingly... so i know the
potential...
there's weirdness with the fuel mixture setting.... i disconnect the
crankcase breather hose (am i supposed to remove the whole rubber
tee, or just the hose that goes down to the crankcase?), as well as
the hose that goes from the carbon canister under the fender to the
aluminum intake plenum (it seems to have a metered opening? and i can
smell the gas vapor coming through it, so im guessing that it was
affecting the mixture when i tried to set it before...).... i set it
to about 30-35% there, since above that amount seems to make the
power loss even worse... then when i hook the hoses back up, and i
rev the engine, the reading spikes up to about 70% or so, but then as
it settles down to idle, it goes all the way down to 4.5% and stays
there... no more fluctuating... i hear the o2 sensor frequency valve
stop working... why would this happen?
could the o2 sensor be going out? there's no surging when at part
throttle or anything... it's just that there's such a lack of power
at full throttle...
i did check the idle and throttle switch... it seems to be
functioning correctly, but it is the kind w/ the seam going down the
middle, and according to scott mockrey's site, they are prone to lots
of problems... so, im gonna replace it
so, anyone have a clue? the fuel pump is pretty new (less than a
year old as of when i parked the car 2.5 years ago...), the fuel
injectors are old though...
i have a plan to get an air/fuel ratio meter in the next couple
days.... im thinking that it will help me alot regarding figuring out
if im too rich or lean on the mixture... i dunno...
argh... thanks in advance!
