Sounds like a blast!

First step, and one you can do during the winter, buy or find ALL the rule
books you can for the potential racing you're interested in.

Track racing has different cage specs then Rally, and they're both different
from Ice racing.  You _can_ (usually) build one style of cage that will meet
all three, but you you can more commonly build three different styles that will
work in one, but not the others.  Check that out as a first step.

Otherwise, sounds very much like what I'm building.  Mine is a 'toy' AND daily
driver that's rally specific, but if I can play in other playgrounds...all the
better!
