Hello Andrei,
Info about Subaru All-Wheel Drive systems you can find on www.subaru.com[1].
There are 4 types and they are rather well described.
Recently we decided to accelerate our actions toward replacing our old
immortal 87 Mercury Tracer with another All-Wheel drive car. It must be a
wagon as well.
We live in Calgary, we ski a lot.
Our other car is 86 4kq (as you might know- with the smallest trunk on the
market).
Having difficulties (selection- wise and money-wise) to find used Audi Avant
(Alberta is a "Truck country").
I directed my efforts towards Subaru. There were much more deals and choices.
Also because of lack of older Audis there is a deficit of repair shop that
know those cars.
Doing some researches besides a number of differences there were one: the
weight
Audi Avant A6 ‘95 weights 317 kilos more than the Subaru GT Wagon we bought.
Audi is only 11 hp more powerful.
Of course the Subaru is not so refined, but it is fun to drive on slippery
roads and it’s very predictable and easy to control. The only disadvantage is
the automatic transmission . My wife is driving it , and she is learning how
to drive an auto.
Also the price is ~ 50% of the same year Avants.
Cheers,
Dobby
