Brendan:
Here in the midwest, step 4 is NA in my Family Album (fridge).
WRT driveshaft, it appears to be that ALL type 44tq use the same 1492mm rear
driveshaft (443521101B) torsen or non (damn unnecessary swap for me?). This
driveshaft problem does apply to the 80/90 vs 4kq chassis however, as FA
shows 3 different driveshafts for torsen vs non (supporting Nates experience
as well). Actually, the rear driveshaft is identical in length (center
support bearing location is the same as well), it's only the front half that
accomodates the different tail housing lengths.
Thanks Brendan, it just got easier for Ben S (well excepting step 4).

Regarding putting the 016 locker in a 1989 200tq.
While performing a clutch swap I also swapped in an 016 locker into my
200tq. The only things I did:
1) Change to roll-pin style slave cylinder
2) Different pilot bearing
3) Move mount pin for stationary "shift lever". (moves because of Procon
10 differences)
4) Enjoyed a few Fat Tires...
Contrary to every instinct I have and know about Audi's, I did not (yes,
DID NOT) Change the propshaft. I am running a 5ktq 016 locker
transimission with a 1989 center prop-shaft. Due to time constraints, I
did not measure the 2 transmissions overall lengths. However, I can
easily measure the 016-Torsen if need be...
